These directions avoid Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg traffic and are appropriate for big rigs.

 

Note:  Don’t rely on your GPS.  The signals are intermittent in the Smokys.

Also, GPS may not account for heavy traffic or the size of your rig.

Coming from points North, Northwest, West or South, through Knoxville, traveling on I-40 East.
Take Exit 435

Follow Hwy 321 South for 17 miles.

(Make sure to take the turns to stay on Hwy 321)

Smoky Bear Campground is on the right.

 

 

Coming from points North East traveling on I-81 South, through Tennessee.

Take I-81 exit 1A   ( I-40 East – Asheville )
Take I-40 Exit 435

Follow Hwy 321 South for 17 miles.

(Make sure to take the turns to stay on Hwy 321)

Coming from points East, South East or South, through Asheville, traveling on I-40 West.

I40 is closed from Asheville to Tennessee
